Hello everyone. This semester has finally come to an end. It was a great semester, I got the chance to meet some really great professors and to become part of the STRAIN Scholars. Even though I didn't get a chance to work on a project of my own, I was able to see what the other students in the cohort were working on. This past Tuesday, I had the opportunity to be invited to one of Dr. Wang's meetings at ASU West to see what research projects she has going on. I was amazed at the projects she is currently working on. Not only that, but also I was amazed at the amount of collaboration that she does with other people to carry out the research. She is wonderful and I hope to join her team in conducting research when I transfer in the upcoming Spring.
S-STEM Introduction and Project
Hello, my name is Ricardo. As one of the S-STEM Scholar students, I am very happy to be a part of this group. I am currently searching for opportunities as to what to do a research project on with an emphasis in applied mathematics. I have spoken with one of the professors at Glendale Community College in order to assist me with brainstorming ideas for this project. We talked about several areas where mathematics can be applied to, such as computing and number theory. I happen to find these two fields of particular interest. I've always been fascinating with what computers can do, and I think that it would be cool to learn about the mathematics that goes behind the programming to make them work. As far as number theory goes, I find it really cool! Even though at this moment I don't know much about it, nonetheless, I find it really interesting and wouldn't mind doing research to learn more about it. Actually, this is one of the reasons why math is my favorite subject. Wh...
